Working @ Merthyr Law

The culture at Merthyr Law is one of “relaxed professionalism”. We only dress formally when the occasion demands but we treat our work and our clients seriously. Our clients prefer our relaxed style to the marble foyers of the CBD firms and find us easy to work with.

Our professional staff are young and keen and we provide good opportunities for professional development through attendance at courses and seminars and through exposure to the full range of work we cover. Steve Grant the founding partner mentors professional staff to ensure they deliver the highest quality client service while developing their professional skills and expertise.

Except in the area of professional service we don’t take ourselves too seriously and we believe it is important to have fun and enjoy coming to work. We take the opportunity to “chill” on a regular basis and seek input from the team on appropriate fun events that enable us to relax and enjoy each others’ company.

We don’t drive our staff into the ground in a relentless drive for billable hours, recognising that work is only one part of our lives and this needs to be balanced with other things. Having said this we are very clear about what we do expect and we have a very transparent incentive scheme to reward those who want to put in that extra effort.

People are not just numbers or producers here but individuals who contribute to our firm, our clients and each other through the way they work and interact. We recognise and celebrate our strengths, areas for development and individual foibles.

We constantly seek new and better ways to work and provide opportunities for our people to contribute ideas and improvements. We operate as a team believing that the whole is always bigger than the individual parts and none of us is as smart as all of us.

If this sounds like a culture you could be happy and fulfilled in and you believe you could contribute to making Merthyr Law the best it can possibly be, drop us a line and tell us why you would like to join our team and the contribution you believe you can make. We are a growing practice and we need good people to help us grow and improve.
