Grants Lawyers has changed its name. We are now known as Merthyr Law, a name which better reflects the success and drive of our growing law practice.
Why the name Merthyr? Because Merthyr has its origins in Queensland history. It is the birth place of Sir Samuel Griffith, the architect of Australia’s constitution. Sir Samuel Griffith was also Australia’s Chief Justice and Queensland’s 12th and 15th Premier. Like Merthyr’s Sir Samuel, our forward thinking solicitors are innovative problem solvers.
Merthyr Law is not strictly departmentalised, preferring to expose our professional staff to a large variety of legal areas, ensuring that clients are not totally dependent on one staff member and can gain assistance at all times.
Our clients are predominantly families involved in small to medium business. The services we offer are focused on estate planning, structures for business and investment assets and the tax that impacts on those matters. In addition, we do normal commercial work for those businesses.
Estate planning impacts us every day. For example, are your personal affairs in order? Do you have a Will and is it up to date? Are your affairs structured so that your loved ones receive maximum benefit from your estate? Could they be entitled to the taxation benefits of testamentary trusts? These benefits can quite easily run to many tens of thousands, and more.
Not only is an up to date Will extremely important but what would happen if you were incapacitated? Who would you want making decisions regarding your financial affairs and your personal care and wellbeing? Discuss the benefits of powers of attorney and enduring guardianship appointments.
Are you in business? Are you a director of a company? Are your assets at risk or are they protected? Horror stories abound. Ensure your assets are protected for your own peace of mind and for your benefit and the benefit of your loved ones.
If you are in business you most certainly should consider a "corporate will". What problems could arise if you or a business colleague died unexpectedly? A properly structured succession plan can save time and money and provide peace of mind for all involved.
Our services are delivered in a relaxed, friendly and professional environment.
